I am honored to represent the residents of Hillsborough County as the new Chair of the Hillsborough County Healthcare Advisory Board. The board provides recommendations on the Hillsborough County Healthcare Plan (safety net coverage for our most vulnerable). I joined the board in 2011 and am one of the longest-serving members.
I appreciate the confidence my board colleagues have placed in my leadership and am deeply humbled to step into the Chair role as founding board member John Curran transitions out. I’m proud that my first official act as Chair was to name Dr. Curran emeritus Chair by unanimous vote. Fittingly, thanks to the vision of Commissioner Gwen Myers, the board will also now be named in his honor.
This is a critical time to lead, as we face significant healthcare challenges, and I look forward to working with Director of Healthcare Services Kevin Wagner to improve care for our residents.
