Certified Physician Executive

This past weekend, I completed the American Association for Physician Leadership® 3 1/2 day Certified Physician Executive (CPE) capstone after taking the 150 required hours over the past few years.

Those courses provided me with a solid foundation in healthcare management, finance, and human resource issues – all needed for leadership – but the capstone event itself was such an important part of the training that included the chance to solidify my leadership philosophy, values, style and reflect on competencies and prior accomplishments with excellent cohort leaders Michael Canady, MD, MBA, CPE, FACS, FAAPL, FACHE & Ron Nutting M.D., CPE, FAAPL as well as an awesome cohort (Steven Davis, MD MS FCCP, Wasseem El-Aneed, Michael Mentakis MD, MBA, CPE, FESC, FACCRobert Shulman, Jeffrey Carlsen, and Jeanne Rowe.

So cool to meet 35 other physicians ready to move healthcare forward and great to be part of an organization committed to physician led teams.

Special thanks to Richard Paula, MD, CPE for suggesting this path to me at a lunch 7-8 years ago. Thanks Rich!
